Artist Video Interview: Wilson Hurley

ASAA Artist Fellow
Wilson Hurley spent much of his life in New Mexico, a place that helped to shape his refined view of landscape. Although he has often been compared to great landscape painters of the Hudson River School (Albert, Bierstadt, Frederick Church, and Thomas Moran) his paintings are definitively part of more modern depiction of landscape. His view of the world was shaped by a strong sense of history and how art itself has changed with changes in technology and perception. His visions of the world were strongly influenced by being a pilot and seeing the world in a much larger perspective. His work captures a cross-section of vast changes in art and the world in the 20th century. – Excerpt from
