REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS
Please read instructions carefully. Please print your entries on the registration form or fill out the online form below.
SECTION II: ASAA FORUM LODGING: DEADLINE FOR DISCOUNT IS SEPT 7, 2026.
Please make your reservations with Wingate at Wyndham Warner Robins, 4031 Watson Blvd., Warner Robins GA 31093. Phone:478.333.6650. single bed 99.00 + tax, double, 109.00 + tax complimentary breakfast buffet.
SECTION III: REGISTRATION – EARLY REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 7, 2026.
1. If you are an ASAA fellow, artist, or associate, or CAAA member, you are considered “ASAA member”. Registering for the full week includes all classes, presentations, critiques, lectures, trips and the business luncheon. The Awards Banquet is an extra event and is not included in the registration fees. Early registration (by SEPT. 7TH 2026) is $395. Regular rate (after SEPT. 7TH 2026) is $495.
2. If you are a non-ASAA artist or enthusiast who is not a spouse, relative, or guest of an ASAA member, your rate is $425 for the week at the early registration rate. Regular rate is $525. The rate includes all classes, presentations, lectures, discussions, trips, and the business luncheon. The Awards Banquet is an extra event and is not included in the registration fees.
3. If you are an ASAA spouse, relative, or guest 18 years or older, and you wish to attend the forum, your registration is $95 for the week. It allows you to participate in all the above-mentioned events except the image critique class.
4. If you are a spouse, relative, or guest of an ASAA member but you do not want to participate in the classes, you do not need to pay a registration fee. You will need to pay for the business luncheon if you wish to attend that event. The cost is $45.
5. If you cannot attend the full week (whether you are an artist, non-artist, member, non-member, guest etc.), you can register for the days you are planning to attend only. Please circle the days you are attending and calculate the cost at $125 per day. Then pay the total.
SECTION IV: AWARDS BANQUET, FRIDAY OCTOBER 9TH 2026.
DEADLINE FOR DINNER SELECTION: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3RD 2026.
The awards banquet is not included in the forum registration. It is a separate cost from the forum registration. Please total up each individual dinner cost. We will have a catered buffet this year with four entrée selections, so there is no need to make a dinner selection.
SECTION V: EXTRAS
IF YOU HAVE NOT YET PAID YOUR DUES FOR 2026-20267 PLEASE DO SO AT THIS TIME. THE COST IS $100 FOR ARTIST MEMBERS, $55 FOR ASSOCIATES. THANK YOU.
We are offering polo shirts with the ASAA logo on the front left corner. Please indicate if you prefer a white, black, or navy, and please indicate the size.
If you wish to have a name badge, please print your name as you would like it to appear on the badge. Indication of your status is simply to determine the color of the badge and will not be included with your name in the printing.

Special Items to bring for the week: Please come prepared with a palette knife for one of the sessions as well as any drawing and painting supplies you will need to create art on site. Also, you might want a sweater or hoodie for the academics as hotel meeting space can be chilly. We will have one night set aside for business attire. The remaining days and nights are casual dress. Also, don’t forget to bring art for the unjuried show.
Monday October 5th 2026: Pre-Forum Setup and Registration. If you are in town early and you would like to help with the exhibition installation, please contact Michael O’Neal ahead of time. The Installation will begin at 9 AM at the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins GA. Forum registration will begin at the Wingate at Wyndham Hotel meeting room at 1:00 PM where you can pick up your welcome bag and bring drop off your unjuried art to display. The room will be secure for the week. Dinner is on your own, and Ye Bird and Star will open at 9:00 PM.
Tuesday, October 6th 2026: Museum and Touring Day. Enjoy a complimentary hot breakfast at the hotel each morning. At 8:30 AM we will begin with a morning briefing in the hotel meeting room to review the agenda for the day. Then we will travel to Warner Robins Airforce Base to tour the flightline and headquarters with fellow ASAA artist Lt. Col. Warren Neary as our guide. After the tour, we will travel to the Museum of Aviation to tour the museum and exhibition. Lunch is on your own. The museum is free to the public and closes each day at 5 PM. They will reopen in the evening at 6PM for an opening reception to celebrate the ASAA’s exhibition. This will be open to the public. There will be an open bar and light hors d’oeuvres. Ye Bird and Star will open at 9 PM for drinks and conversation.
Wednesday, October 7th 2026: Academics at the Hotel. After breakfast and our morning briefing, the morning academics will be as follows:

“The Picture Plane-Perception-and the Window On the World”
Marc will show examples of how he uses models and maquettes as references for compositions to achieve accurate scales and perspectives. He will also go over photography basics and things to avoid to keep your compositions sound.
Session 3 Darby Perrin 10:30 AM
“Let’s take a Gander at my Gaggle of Grey Grumman Goose pics I Googled for my Goggles”
Darby will speak about his experience using VR goggles to transfer your reference images to canvas.
Session 4 Greg Jackson 11 :00 AM
“Perspective Tips and Tricks”
The class will cover beginner and intermediate concepts of drawing in perspective. It will include topics like finding viewpoints and horizon lines in images, calculating the scale of objects at various distances, 1-2-3 and infinite point perspective, and curvilinear perspective. It can serve as a jumping-off point for those who want to use advanced techniques like DG.
We will have our business luncheon buffet after Greg’s class. The afternoon academics will proceed as follows:

When Aviators Were Not Sure They Wanted to Be in the Cockpit.

“The Eight Rules of Realism”
A discussion on basic concepts of realistic painting, especially applied to aviation art.
Session 7 Mike O’Neal 3 :00 PM
“From Start to Finish”
Using Roy Award winning paintings as a foundation, Mike will discuss the process of going from an idea to the final painting to level up your work.
Session 8 Mark Pestana 4:00 PM
“Quiet BOOMS?! The NASA X-59 Project”
NASA is flight testing the Lockheed X-59 QueSST, demonstrating technologies that will provide data for the design of “quiet” supersonic transports. Mark Pestana served as an F-18 research pilot and flight test engineer on exploratory supersonic flights that characterized the dynamics of shock waves, leading to understanding methods to reduce their impacts.

“The Bell X-1: Facts vs Folklore”
Everyone has their favorite story about the Bell X-1 and some of them are true. Captain Chuck Yeager’s supersonic “Glamorous Glennis” was the first in a successful series of experimental “X-Planes.” In all, six versions
of the X-1 flew at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) High-Speed Flight Research Station, Edwards, CA from 1946 to 1958. NASA’s X-59 flies there today.
Dinner will be on your own, and Ye Bird and Star will open at 9 PM.
Thursday, October 8th 2026: Academics and Drawing & Painting. After breakfast and the morning briefing, we will have three academic sessions in the morning as follows:
Session 10 Steve Cox 9:00 AM
“Air Racing, A Personal Perspective”
Steve has been fascinated with air racing and the people involved in it since he was a kid. He will be presenting some personal experiences, a bit of the science behind making airplanes go fast, and the role artwork has played in his exposure to the crazy world of unlimited air racing.
Session 11 and 12 Doug Rowe 10:00 AM
“Blue and Yellow Don’t Make Green”
Knowing what is in the paints you use will inform the decisions you make to achieve the colors you want. Everyone will need to bring their own palette knife.
“Layering for Depth and Luminosity”
With the information from his talk on color mixing, Doug will describe how he took a bare canvas to a completed layered painting yielding increased depth and luminosity. He will also include all techniques and materials used to achieve the results.
Lunch will be on your own. For the afternoon, we will car pool to the Museum of Aviation with your drawing supplies to spend the remainder of the day engaged in drawing and painting. The museum staff will provide chairs, and you are responsible for art supplies, tarps, and everything you need to create art and clean up after yourselves. Dinner that night is on your own, followed by Ye Bird and Star. Make some time before the bar closes to vote for the Matt Jefferies Awards—best work brought to the forum and created on site as voted by the attendees. Also, if you are interested in having work entered in the critique session, make sure you send your image via email (njaviators@aol.com) or get a jump drive to Michael O’Neal by this evening.
Friday, October 9th 2026: Academics, Museum, Awards Banquet. After breakfast, meet for the morning briefing for the presentation of the Founders Awards and the Walt Jefferies Awards for artwork brought to the forum and work done on site. Two academic sessions will follow:

“Luther’s Letter Loop, The First Year in Pictures”
How a simple act of boosting one man’s spirit evolved into an air mail art show.
Session 14 Critique Session 10:00 AM
Make sure you have given your submission to Mike O’Neal ahead of time. Email your image to njaviators@aol.com
Lunch will be on your own. The afternoon presently is free time to tour the museum, but the museum staff is looking into possibly coordinating a kid’s day to come and watch artists paint. This will be like a free drawing and painting day but with an audience. Logistics are yet to be finalized, so keep your ears open for this. We will have our Awards Banquet at the Museum of Aviation starting with a cocktail hour at 6 PM, dinner at 7 PM, and the Awards presentation to follow. Dress code is business dress. Come visit Ye Bird and Star one last time after 10 PM. We are responsible for vacating the meeting room that evening.
